Desert Foothills Junior High School, often searched as Desert Foothills Middle School, is a grade 7 and 8 school in the Washington Elementary School District, at 3333 W. Banff Lane in northwest Phoenix (ZIP 85053). Its students typically go on to Glendale Union High School District schools such as Greenway High School.
I'm Terry Day with DeLex Realty. Families often ask me about homes near a specific school, so here is what I found on the school's and district's official websites, written in my own words. I don't rate or rank schools. This page is about where the school is, what it offers and how enrollment works, plus homes for sale nearby.

The campus is at 3333 W. Banff Lane in Phoenix, ZIP 85053, in the northwest part of the city. It belongs to the Washington Elementary School District (WESD), whose main office is on W. Sweetwater Avenue in Glendale. One thing to keep straight: "Desert Foothills" is also the name people use for the Cave Creek and Carefree area, which is served by a different district. This page is about the WESD junior high in Phoenix.
Desert Foothills is a neighborhood junior high for seventh and eighth graders, and its home page calls it the home of the Scorpions. The school describes its campus as newly remodeled. Programs listed on the school and district websites include:
The school's calendar page links to the district calendars for the coming school years, and the contact page lists the bell times and office hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). Visit the Desert Foothills website for current news, athletics and events.
According to WESD, the elementary schools that feed Desert Foothills are Acacia, Chaparral, Ironwood and Sunburst. After eighth grade, WESD students move to the Glendale Union High School District: the district lists Greenway High School for students from Acacia, Ironwood and Sunburst, and Greenway or Moon Valley High School for students from Chaparral.
WESD accepts open enrollment applications from families inside and outside the district when space allows. Applications turned in by March 15 get priority, and schools with open seats keep taking applications through the year. The district posts a seats-available list and has a "find your child's school" boundary lookup on wesdschools.org.
Please confirm boundaries with the district before you buy. Living near a school does not guarantee a home is assigned to it, and boundaries can change. I did not find any announced closure or boundary change for Desert Foothills, but WESD has restarted an enrollment planning committee, so it is worth checking the district's latest news.
Desert Foothills sits in northwest Phoenix, and buyers here often also look at Moon Valley. For the bigger picture, see my Phoenix guide and Glendale guide, and the high school pages for Greenway High School and Moon Valley High School.
The listings on this page are homes where MLS data names Desert Foothills as the middle or junior high school. Listing data is not always complete, so I double-check each home's assignment with the district. If you are buying, start with my first steps for buying in Arizona, and ask me about assumable mortgages.
