Holiday Events Near Sun City AZ: 2026 Season

Holiday events near Sun City AZ for 2026 run from Thanksgiving, November 26, through New Year's Day. Sun City West has confirmed rec center events in late November and early December, and the City of Surprise lists its Surprise Party for December 4 and 5. Every date here comes from the organizer's own page.

Holiday events in the Sun Cities are spread across rec center calendars, club posts and city special events pages in Surprise and Peoria. I am Terry Day, REALTOR® with DeLex Realty, and I help buyers and snowbirds plan home tours around the season. My rule for this page is simple: if I could not read the 2026 date on the organizer's own page, I left the date out.

Sun City West: confirmed 2026 holiday events

The Recreation Centers of Sun City West (RCSCW) publish events on their own site. These are the holiday-season items I confirmed on official RCSCW pages for 2026:

• Holiday Open House at Grandview Pro Shop: Friday, November 20, 2026, from 2 to 7 p.m., at the Grandview Golf Course pro shop, 14260 W. Meeker Boulevard. The post describes holiday shopping and refreshments.
• Miracle on 34th Street, the Play: Stardust Theatre's Thanksgiving benefit show, produced by the Recreation Centers of Sun City West, at the Stardust Theatre in the Kuentz Recreation Center. Shows are Friday, November 27 at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 28 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, November 29 at 2 p.m. Non-perishable food donations are collected at each showing for local 501(c)(3) organizations. Tickets are sold online and at the R.H. Johnson Box Office, and online buyers are asked to enter an RCSCW rec card number.
• Holiday Ornament Decorating and Winter Fun: Thursday, December 3, 2026, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the R.H. Johnson Library, 13801 W. Meeker Boulevard. The listing says no registration is required, activities are first come, first served, and supplies are limited.

One more Sun City West tradition is worth knowing for next year. The Santa Letters for Grandchildren program has residents drop off a questionnaire for each grandchild at the R.H. Johnson Box Office, and letters are mailed so they arrive during December. The 2026 deadline was Friday, November 6, so watch for it again next fall.

Many RCSCW facilities and events are tied to a Rec Card. If you have guests in town, check the current guest rules with RCSCW before you plan around an event. For more on daily life there, see my moving to Sun City West AZ guide.

Surprise: Surprise Party and Sparkling Surprise

Sun City Grand is in the City of Surprise, so the city's holiday events are the closest big public celebrations for Grand residents. The city's Surprise Party page lists the event for December 4 and 5, from 5 to 9 p.m., at Surprise Community Park. The city lists admission with a canned food or toy donation.

According to the city page, the Surprise Party includes a holiday tree lighting ceremony, a foam snow party, food trucks, a vendor village, a kid zone, photos with Santa in Santa's Workshop, live music, performances, light shows, fireworks and a hot air balloon glow.

The city also runs Sparkling Surprise, a holiday lights display. I could not find 2026 dates or nightly hours on the city's Sparkling Surprise page, so I am not listing any. Check the city's Parks and Recreation events page closer to December. If you are looking at homes nearby, my Sun City Grand homes page is a good place to start.

Sun City and Peoria: check the official calendars

The Recreation Centers of Sun City post activities, concerts and facility notices on their own website. I could not read 2026 holiday listings there this round, so I have not listed any Sun City dates. Open the RCSC calendar directly, or ask the rec center office. My moving to Sun City AZ guide covers the recreation centers themselves.

The City of Peoria publishes a city event calendar and runs its Second Saturdays series downtown. I was not able to open the city's event pages to confirm any 2026 holiday date, so I have left Peoria dates off this page. Check peoriaaz.gov before you go.

A simple way to plan holiday week

1. Start with the official page for the event: RCSCW, the City of Surprise, RCSC or the City of Peoria.
2. Save the event page so you have the hours and location handy.
3. Check the holiday closure schedule if you planned to golf, swim, bowl or use the library that day.
4. If you also want to tour homes, call me with the event time and I will book showings around it.

For the wider November through April picture across the Valley, use my snowbird events calendar. If you are still comparing communities, the Arizona 55+ living hub is a good next stop. Sun City, Sun City West and Sun City Grand are age-restricted communities, and occupancy rules are set in each community's CC&Rs.
