Silverleaf is the guard-gated village tucked into the canyons of the McDowell Mountains at the north end of DC Ranch in Scottsdale. DMB developed it as part of the DC Ranch master plan, and today it is known for custom estates, formal garden homes, mountain views and the private Silverleaf Club. If Silverleaf is on your list, here is what I want you to know before we tour.

Silverleaf sits along the upper edge of DC Ranch, right up against the McDowell Mountains and next to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Most drives in and out run along Thompson Peak Parkway and Pima Road, and Loop 101 is a short drive south on Pima. That puts the Scottsdale Airpark, Kierland, Scottsdale Quarter and the rest of the Valley within easy reach, while the neighborhood itself feels tucked away. If you are new to the area, my Moving to Scottsdale guide covers the city as a whole.
The land has a long history. It was once part of E.O. Brown's DC Ranch, a cattle operation that started near a McDowell Mountains spring in the early 1900s. The Silverleaf name comes from a historic mining claim filed on the property in the late 1800s. DMB began building DC Ranch in 1997, and Silverleaf grew into its most private village.
Silverleaf Village was planned around Spanish and Mediterranean Revival estate architecture, and the homes are designed to sit quietly in the desert and frame the mountain views. DC Ranch lists 15 neighborhoods inside the village, including Rob's Camp, Saguaro Canyon, Whistling Wind, Wingspan and Sterling Estates. Most homes are custom or semi-custom estates. There are also formal garden homes on smaller lots and a limited number of villas and townhome-style residences for buyers who want a lock-and-leave setup.
Lots vary a lot from street to street. Some back to the golf course, some climb toward the mountains, and some look south and west toward the city lights. When I show homes here, I pay close attention to the view corridor, how much of the lot is usable, and what the neighbors could build next door.
The Silverleaf Club is the centerpiece. Its par-72 Tom Weiskopf course plays 7,322 yards through the foothills, and the 50,000-square-foot clubhouse, which opened in 2004, has a spa, resort and lap pools, locker rooms and both casual and fine dining. The club is private and has its own membership.
Because Silverleaf is part of DC Ranch, homeowners also use the DC Ranch amenities: the Desert Camp and Homestead community centers, 47 parks connected by more than 50 miles of paths and trails, the DC Ranch Tennis Center, and the Village Health Club and Spa. Market Street at DC Ranch, at Pima Road and Thompson Peak Parkway, has shops and restaurants, and the McDowell Sonoran Preserve has miles of public hiking and biking trails close by.
Silverleaf is in the Scottsdale Unified School District. Assigned schools are Copper Ridge School (pre-K through 8th grade, located on DC Ranch) and Chaparral High School. Nearby private and charter options include Notre Dame Preparatory and Scottsdale Preparatory Academy. School boundaries can change, so please confirm the assigned schools for a specific address with the district.
Silverleaf homeowners are part of the DC Ranch Association, which runs the shared parks, trails and community centers and is led by a board and resident committees. Some neighborhoods may also have their own association, and exterior changes go through a design review process. The Silverleaf Club is a separate private club, so club membership is its own decision with its own terms. Before you write an offer, I pull the documents for every association tied to that exact home so you know the rules and costs up front.
Because Silverleaf is guard-gated, I set up showings in advance so we are on the gate list. On each home I look at the lot, the view, design review limits, the age of systems like roofs and pools, and whether the furniture or golf cart is part of the deal. If you are just getting started, read my first steps to buying a home in Arizona. If a seller has a lower-rate loan, it is worth asking whether it can be assumed. My assumable mortgage guide explains how that works.
Silverleaf buyers often compare homes across several north Scottsdale communities, so the price has to make sense next to DC Ranch, Desert Highlands and Desert Mountain, not just the house down the street. Lot, view and finish level drive value here more than square footage alone. Read how to price your Arizona home to sell and my north Scottsdale home values seller guide, then call me for a pricing review of your home.
