What a golf cart garage means in Corte Bella
In Corte Bella, a cart garage usually means an extended bay off the car garage or a separate, shorter bay with its own door. Some homes have a full third car bay that an owner uses for a cart. Others were remodeled after the original build. Exact sizes vary by plan and by what the seller changed, so a listing photo or a line in the remarks does not prove your cart fits along with a charger, shelves and room to walk around it.
A good first step is the original floor plan. The Corte Bella Resource Center on cortebella.net posts drawings for the community's plan names. Comparing the original drawing with what is in the house shows quickly whether the cart space was built in or added later. If you are thinking about changing a garage or adding a cart door, the community has an Architectural Review Committee, and its process applies before work starts.

Cart rules inside Corte Bella and at the golf club
Corte Bella publishes its own community documents, rules and regulations through cortebella.net. Rules about where carts may be parked, overnight storage and street use come from those documents, not from another community's cart policy. Buyers who also shop Sun City West sometimes assume the Recreation Centers of Sun City West cart policy applies here. Read Corte Bella's own documents instead, and ask for them during your review period.
Corte Bella Golf Club describes itself as a semi-private championship course. Its FAQ says private carts are allowed with a trail fee, that a fee applies when you use the club's carts, and that walking is permitted and encouraged when conditions allow. You do not need to live in Corte Bella to join, and membership fees vary by type, so ask the club directly for current terms. If you plan to play with your own cart, confirm the club's private cart requirements before you buy one.
Arizona golf cart law in general terms
Arizona's definitions statute, A.R.S. 28-101, defines a golf cart as a motor vehicle with at least three wheels on the ground, an unladen weight under 1,800 pounds, designed to be and operated at not more than 25 miles per hour, and designed to carry not more than four people including the driver.
A.R.S. 28-966 is a different rule. It covers neighborhood electric vehicles and neighborhood electric shuttles (plus motorized quadricycles and occupantless electric vehicles), not golf carts as such. Under 28-101, a neighborhood electric vehicle is electric, emission free, has at least four wheels and meets the federal low-speed vehicle standards. Section 28-966 limits those vehicles to 25 miles per hour, bars them from highways posted above 35 miles per hour (they may cross such a highway at an intersection), and requires a permanent notice of the operating limits where the driver can see it.
So a standard golf cart and a street-legal low-speed vehicle are not the same thing under state law. Registration, insurance and equipment questions belong with the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division. For more background, read our guide to street-legal golf carts in Arizona.

Why buyers look for this feature
- The car garage stays free for vehicles, a workbench and storage.
- The cart charges indoors, out of the summer sun.
- Getting to the course, the courts or a neighbor's house is easy, within community and club rules.
- The cart does not have to sit in the driveway, which community parking rules may limit.

What to check before you buy
- Measure the bay length and width with the door closed, and bring your cart's dimensions.
- Check the door height against your cart's roof and windshield.
- Look at the floor slope and whether rainwater runs into the bay.
- Note water heaters, softeners, cabinets or HVAC equipment that take cart length.
- Find the outlet you will charge from and how far it is from where the cart parks.
- Compare the home with its original floor plan from the Resource Center to see what was changed.
- Read the CC&Rs, rules and regulations for cart parking, storage and street use.
- Confirm Corte Bella Golf Club's current private cart terms if you plan to play with your own cart.
- Check how state law treats your vehicle type: golf cart under A.R.S. 28-101, or neighborhood electric vehicle under A.R.S. 28-966.

Questions people ask
Do all Corte Bella homes have a golf cart garage?
No. Cart space depends on the original floor plan and any later remodel. Some homes have an extended or separate cart bay, some have a third car bay, and some have neither. Check the plan and measure on a showing.
Does the listings button show only homes with a measured cart garage?
No. It shows Corte Bella listings whose listing mentions a golf cart. That is a keyword search, so some results may mention a cart for other reasons. Confirm the garage in person.
Can I use my own cart at Corte Bella Golf Club?
The club's FAQ says private carts are allowed with a trail fee. Ask the club for current requirements and fees before you plan around it.
Is a golf cart the same as a neighborhood electric vehicle in Arizona?

Is Corte Bella age-restricted?
Yes. Corte Bella is an age-restricted community, and the rules are in the CC&Rs. Review the governing documents for details.
