Why I keep this list

I am a REALTOR, not a health professional. Buyers touring PebbleCreek, CantaMia, Sun City Festival and Verrado often ask me early on where the hospitals and emergency rooms are. This page lists what each health system publishes on its own site, so you can map it from the homes you tour. It mirrors my hospitals near Sun City AZ guide for the northwest Valley.

This is general information, not medical advice. Services and hours change, so confirm on the health system's page or by phone. Questions about doctors, insurance networks or where to go for care belong with your own care team and your plan.

Hospitals with emergency rooms

Abrazo West Campus, Goodyear. The Abrazo West Campus page lists the hospital at 13677 W. McDowell Rd., Goodyear, AZ 85395, with an emergency room open 24 hours every day. Its listed services include emergency, cardiovascular, stroke treatment, orthopedics, general surgery, rehabilitation and a trauma center. Abrazo does not show a main phone number on that page, so use the site's contact options or call 911 in an emergency.

Banner Estrella Medical Center, west Phoenix. The Banner Estrella page lists the hospital at 9201 W. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85037, main line 623-327-4000, open 24 hours. Emergency is on its services list, along with heart, cancer, intensive care, orthopedics, neurology, imaging, rehabilitation and surgery. It sits in Phoenix, east of Goodyear and Avondale, so map it from the homes you are considering.

Emergency rooms in Goodyear and Avondale

Dignity Health Arizona General Hospital Emergency Room, Goodyear. The Dignity Health location page lists this ER at 251 N. Estrella Pkwy., Goodyear, AZ 85338, at the southeast corner of W. Van Buren St. and S. Estrella Pkwy., phone 623-322-6900. It says the ER is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays. The page notes that each location submits its own details, so call to confirm.

Phoenix Children's Avondale Campus. Phoenix Children's fact sheet lists the campus at 1665 N. Avondale Blvd., Avondale, AZ 85392, with an emergency department providing 24/7 care staffed for children. It is a pediatric ER, so it is worth knowing about when grandchildren visit, not for adult care.

I could not find a full adult hospital with an emergency room inside Avondale city limits on any health system's site. Banner runs an urgent care at 11685 W. Van Buren St., Avondale (623-465-6420, listed open daily 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.). Banner's urgent care page says life-threatening symptoms belong at an ER or with 911, not urgent care.

Buckeye and Verrado: what is open and what is planned

Buckeye is where the most change is happening, and where older lists go out of date fastest. Here is what I could confirm this week:

  • Banner Health Center, Verrado. The Banner page lists 20751 W. Market St., Buckeye, AZ 85396, phone 623-463-5000, with family medicine and pediatrics, labs and x-rays. Hours are weekdays only, and it is not an emergency room.
  • Banner's planned Buckeye hospital. Banner announced in an April 2022 press release a hospital with an emergency room at the northwest corner of Verrado Way and I-10, next to the Verrado health center, with a target of fall 2024. I could not find a Banner location page showing that hospital open, so check bannerhealth.com before you count on it.
  • Abrazo Buckeye campus. Abrazo's campus at Verrado Way and I-10 held a ribbon cutting for its medical office building in June 2025, and InBuckeye reported it will not offer emergency services. Abrazo has described a future acute care hospital on the site.
  • Abrazo Buckeye Emergency Center. Abrazo's location page describes a 24/7 stand-alone emergency center tied to Abrazo West Campus, but the same site also shows a notice that the location is no longer available, and it lists no address. Call Abrazo to confirm whether it is operating before you rely on it.

Outpatient centers in Goodyear

Banner opened its Banner Health Center, Goodyear at 1800 N. Civic Square in the GSQ downtown district in October 2025. The location page lists primary care, endocrinology, orthopedics and imaging, weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., phone 623-465-6506. It is a health center, not a hospital or ER.

How this fits a 55+ home search

PebbleCreek, CantaMia, Sun City Festival and the Victory District at Verrado are age-restricted (55+) communities, with the rules set in each community's CC&Rs. Hospital location has nothing to do with those housing rules, but it is a fair thing to look at while you compare streets.

I do not quote drive times. Put the official address of each campus into your map app from the actual home you are touring, at the time of day you would be driving. A freestanding ER, an urgent care and a full hospital are different things, so read each health system's own description.
