Senior fitness in Pinal County runs through city and town centers, not one system. Casa Grande, Florence, the City of Maricopa and Apache Junction each post their own senior center, gym or pool options, and San Tan Valley is a new town. Check the current calendar before you go; this page is not medical advice.

I am Terry Day, REALTOR® with DeLex Realty. Buyers who shortlist Pinal County homes often ask me where the chair yoga class or the pool is. Below is what each city and town posts on its own website now. For the wider list of senior resources, start with my guide to senior services in Pinal County.

Casa Grande: senior center classes, recreation center and summer pool

The City of Casa Grande Health and Wellness page lists chair exercise on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at the Dorothy Powell Senior Center, described as low impact and open to all fitness levels. The same page lists a Monday Tai Chi class, a Thursday morning Walking Club at Peart Park, and line dancing Monday through Thursday mornings at the Len Colla Recreation Center for beginners and experienced dancers. The senior center also has a fitness room with treadmills, ellipticals, free weights and exercise balls during regular hours.

The Casa Grande Community Recreation Center on N. Peart Road has a fitness loft, a gym with drop-in pickleball, and group fitness and dance rooms. Members get group fitness classes, and the city offers a senior (50+) membership category. Water exercise is seasonal: the city lists aqua aerobics at Palm Island Family Aquatic Park, which opens for the summer swim season. Some recreation center memberships include a summer swim pass to Palm Island, so ask about that when you sign up.

If you are comparing communities around Casa Grande, my Casa Grande 55+ communities page lists the age-restricted neighborhoods in the area.

Florence: senior center, fitness center and aquatic center

The Town of Florence parks and facilities page lists three places worth knowing. The Dorothy Nolan Senior Center on N. Pinal Street offers programs for seniors, and the town says to call for current programming. The Florence Fitness Center on N. Main Street has treadmills, recumbent bikes, weight machines, arc trainers, stretch machines and free weights. The Florence Aquatic Center on W. 1st Street has a competition pool and a play pool. The town page does not list a senior water class, so ask the senior center or the aquatic center what is running this season.

Sun City Anthem at Merrill Ranch is a Del Webb community in Florence. The Del Webb site lists an indoor and outdoor pool, a spa and sauna, a fitness center, and pickleball, tennis and bocce courts, with activities it describes as typically focused on the 55+ patron. See my Anthem at Merrill Ranch homes page for more on the community.

City of Maricopa: Copper Sky and the Community Center

Copper Sky Multigenerational Center on W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. is the city's main recreation center. The city says it has a fitness floor, an indoor walking and jogging track, an aquatic center and more than 45 weekly group exercise classes, and that these are amenities of membership. The posted group fitness schedule includes SilverSneakers Classic, SilverSneakers Circuit, Seated Zumba Toning and Chair Yoga in the gym, plus an Aqua Fit class in the pool. Pool access requires a Copper Sky membership or a day pass. Copper Sky can be reached at 520-316-4600, the number on its city page.

The Maricopa Community Center on W. Smith Enke Road serves the city's seniors and veterans with socialization, lifelong learning, cultural programs and events on weekdays. Its page does not list fitness classes, so treat it as a social hub and Copper Sky as the gym. Province is a 55+ community in Maricopa; see my Province homes page if you are looking there.

San Tan Valley: Arizona's newest town

San Tan Valley voters approved incorporation in August 2025, and the Maricopa Association of Governments reports the Town of San Tan Valley officially incorporated on September 17, 2025. As a new town it is still building out services, and I did not find town-run senior fitness classes on its website. Central Arizona Aging, which serves Pinal and Gila Counties, can help with senior center referrals. Nearby city centers, such as Apache Junction's Multi-Generational Center, offer daily passes as well as memberships. Solera at Johnson Ranch is a 55+ community in San Tan Valley; see my Solera Johnson Ranch homes page.

Apache Junction: Multi-Generational Center

The City of Apache Junction runs its Senior Program out of the Multi-Generational Center on N. Idaho Road, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Active Adult programs that include fitness and walking. The center itself has a fitness area, an indoor track and pickleball courts, and posts more than 40 weekly fitness classes. Its November 2026 group fitness schedule includes SilverSneakers Classic and Circuit, Chair Yoga, Advanced Chair Yoga, Active Motion (standing and seated), and Gentle Sunrise Yoga. The city says reservations are recommended and can be made up to 48 hours ahead. It accepts SilverSneakers, Silver&Fit and Renew Active. For senior programs, the city lists 480-474-5260.

Eloy: Robson Ranch Arizona

Robson Ranch Arizona in Eloy describes itself as a 55+ active adult community. In 2024 Robson announced three new movement studios, a walking circuit with light strength and flexibility stations, and sample classes such as Pilates, Tai Chi and Zumba. See my Robson Ranch homes page for details.

How to try a class

  • Pick the class first, then check the live schedule or calendar on the official city or town page
  • Ask whether you need a membership, a day pass, a senior center registration form or proof of residency
  • Ask whether the class takes reservations; Apache Junction allows them up to 48 hours ahead
  • Pool classes can be seasonal; Palm Island in Casa Grande is a summer facility
  • Talk with your own health professional before starting a new exercise program

Community fitness centers inside 55+ neighborhoods are separate from city programs. Those communities are age-restricted (55+), with rules in the CC&Rs, and amenity access follows each HOA's rules.
