Several Arizona 55+ communities publish an indoor pool on their official sites: PebbleCreek, Robson Ranch, Trilogy at Vistancia, Sun City Grand and two Sun City West recreation centers. An indoor pool is only one part of a recreation package, so I compare the actual facility, its current status and the access rules before it drives a home search.
Indoor pools in Arizona 55+ communities at a glance
- Indoor pool named on the official site: PebbleCreek (Tuscany Falls), Robson Ranch (Desert Sky Sports Club), Trilogy at Vistancia, Sun City Grand (Adobe Center), Sun City West (Beardsley and Palm Ridge).
- Outdoor only, per the official pages I read: Sun City West's R.H. Johnson and Kuentz centers, and Sun City Grand's Cimarron Center.
- Lap pool listed, indoor status not stated: Leisure World in Mesa.
- All of these are age-restricted (55+) communities; the rules are in the CC&Rs.
- Always confirm current operation: pools close for repairs, heaters go down and schedules change.
Indoor, covered and outdoor are not the same thing
A pool with a shade structure is not an indoor pool, and a heated outdoor pool is not the same experience on a windy January morning as a pool inside a building. Here I only call a pool "indoor" when the community's official site uses that word.
I also separate lap swimming from leisure swimming. Some communities have a dedicated lap pool, some mark lap lanes in a larger pool, and some combine leisure and lap use in one body of water. If laps are the reason you want a pool, ask how lanes are scheduled and whether water fitness classes share the space.
West Valley communities with indoor pools
PebbleCreek, Goodyear
The PebbleCreek HOA describes a heated indoor pool with designated lap lanes at Tuscany Falls, plus a resort-style outdoor pool with beach entry, a resistance-walking channel and a hot tub. Robson's community page calls the Tuscany Sports & Aquatics Complex a mix of outdoor and indoor aquatic areas and lists aqua among its group fitness classes. The HOA lists two fitness centers, at Tuscany Falls and Eagle's Nest, each with cardio and weight equipment and locker rooms with steam rooms. See my PebbleCreek homes page.
Trilogy at Vistancia, Peoria
Trilogy's lifestyle page describes an indoor Olympic-size lap pool with rounded edges designed to reduce waves between swimmers, along with outdoor resort pools at the Kiva and Mita Clubs. It lists fitness centers at both clubs with a daily class schedule. More on the Trilogy at Vistancia page.
Sun City Grand, Surprise
The community association's site, which now brands the community as The Grand, lists three pools at the Adobe Center: an outdoor leisure pool, an outdoor lap pool, and an indoor leisure and lap pool with a hot tub. The Cimarron Center has one outdoor leisure and lap pool. The site says the community pools are heated year-round, and members check in at the Adobe and Cimarron fitness centers. For a specific home there, ask Terry for the floor plan. See Sun City Grand homes for sale.
Sun City West
The Recreation Centers of Sun City West list an Olympic-size indoor pool in the Fitness Center and Aquatics Building at Beardsley, and both an indoor pool and an outdoor pool at Palm Ridge. The R.H. Johnson and Kuentz center pages list outdoor pools, and every center page lists a fitness center. The chartered water fitness club says it holds sessions at the Beardsley, Palm Ridge and R.H. Johnson pools. When I checked, the R.H. Johnson pool was closed for an extended repair and the Kuentz heater was out, which is exactly why current status matters. See Sun City West 55+ homes.
Sun City
Sun City's recreation centers operate separately from Sun City West's, with their own pools and fitness rooms. I could not confirm from the official site which Sun City pools are enclosed, so I am not calling any of them indoor here. Check each center directly, and read my Moving to Sun City guide and the Sun City vs Sun City West vs Sun City Grand comparison.
East Valley and beyond
Robson Ranch, Eloy
Robson describes a heated indoor pool with lap lanes at the Desert Sky Sports Club, an outdoor resort-style pool and whirlpool, and a separate Grandkids Pool for small visitors. The fitness center is in the same sports club, and the class list includes Aqua, Barre Sculpt, Indoor Cycling and TRX. See Robson Ranch homes for sale.
Leisure World, Mesa
The Leisure World Community Association describes an Aquatic Center with swimming pools and a lap pool, a fitness center with a sauna and steam room, and swim classes. The page does not say whether any pool is indoor, so treat it as a lap-pool community and confirm enclosure on a tour. See Leisure World homes for sale.
Sun Lakes
Sun Lakes is several separate country club associations, each with its own facilities. I could not confirm an indoor pool on an official association page, so I have left it off the indoor list. If pools matter, confirm which association a home belongs to before comparing amenities. More on the Sun Lakes 55+ page.
Aquatic fitness and lap swimming: check the schedule
A pool on a site map does not tell you when you can swim. Ask for the current aquatic calendar and the open-swim and lap times. Classes, club sessions and guest hours can take over lanes at the times you planned to use them. Don't assume last season's schedule still applies.
This is a facility comparison, not health advice. Talk with your own health professional about which kinds of water exercise suit you.
Fitness rooms, access and the home itself
Recreation access rules live in each community's governing documents: card or check-in rules, guest policies, transfer requirements and any separate club memberships. Read them before you write an offer. In an age-restricted (55+) community, the age rules are in the CC&Rs.
Then compare the house the same way you compare the pool: floor plan, storage, laundry, patio, roof and cooling equipment. For resale homes, an eligible existing FHA or VA loan may be assumable with lender approval; my assumable mortgage page explains how that works. For new builds, remember the builder's sales agent works for the builder.

Questions buyers ask
Which Arizona 55+ communities have indoor pools?
Based on their official sites, PebbleCreek, Robson Ranch, Trilogy at Vistancia, Sun City Grand (Adobe Center) and Sun City West (Beardsley and Palm Ridge) all list an indoor pool. Confirm current operation before you rely on it.
Is a covered pool the same as an indoor pool?
No. A shade structure or a heated outdoor pool is not an indoor pool. Ask the recreation office how the pool is enclosed, or see it in person.
Can I swim laps whenever the pool is open?
Not always. Water fitness classes, club sessions and children's or guest hours can share the pool, so check the live schedule and lane rules.
Are aquatic classes included with ownership?
Check the association's recreation rules for owner access, and confirm separately whether a class or club has its own registration.
If a year-round indoor pool is high on your list, I can help you compare communities pool by pool and home by home. Call Terry Day, REALTOR with DeLex Realty, and I will help you check current facility details before you tour. For any home you like, ask Terry for the floor plan.
